Nigerians have taken to the streets to denounce the National Assembly for their alleged lack of consideration and dishonor in deciding to import 360 SUVs—SUVs—worth an estimated N57.6 billion for Senators and Members of the House of Representatives.
The move was supported by Senator Sunday Karimi, the chairman of the Committee on Senate Services, who questioned why Nigerians were criticizing the parliamentarians when ministers drive four government cars during a Tuesday press conference in Abuja.
“Those who were governors, some years back, are the ones who are now complaining of bad roads across the country, after claiming to have constructed world class roads while they held sway in their various states,” stated Elder Joe Ambakederimo, Convener of the South-South Reawakening Group, or SSRG.
