The police in Ondo State have revealed that gunmen in Ifon in the state’s Ose Local Government Area kidnapped some Christian worshipers who were on their way to a burial ceremony.
Members of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Igan, Akure, the state capital, are among the missing people.
The worshipers were taken on Friday afternoon, according to SP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the state’s police spokesperson, who confirmed the kidnapping in a statement on Saturday.
“The Police Anti-kidnapping squad and other tactical teams have been deployed to the area to rescue the victims and arrest all involved in the crime,” Odunlami-Omisanya stated.

The worshippers were taken hostage while traveling to a funeral ceremony in Elegbeka after Ifon in the Ose council area, according to a family member of one of the abductees who asked to remain anonymous.
The woman claimed, “The vehicle carrying the abducted choir members was seen abandoned by the roadside.”
