Elijah Anthony, a 17-year-old student in Plateau State, was apprehended by members of the State Police Command for reportedly killing the five-year-old neighbor’s child and demanding N400,000 in ransom from the victim’s parents.
Anthony, a Senior Secondary student at Manret High School in the Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, was one of 39 suspects paraded on Thursday at the police command headquarters in Jos for various offenses. Anthony is a resident of the Angul D village.
The defendant, who apologized for the event, attributed his actions to the hardships facing the nation.
The five-year-old boy’s body was found in a marsh close to the incomplete building where he was left by the accused, and it was given to his parents for burial, according to State Commissioner of Police Okoro Julius Alawari, who also paraded 39 other suspects.
