President will be free like Obama and the Indian PM, according to Tinubu's certification, 107 former APC senators

On Sunday, 107 former senators from the All Progressives Congress backed President Bola Tinubu and said that the opposition was to blame for the accusation of certificate fabrication.

They expressed confidence that Tinubu would prevail, citing examples from around the world such as former US President Barack Obama and current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The ex-senators asserted that the accusations were untrue while pleading with Nigerians to have faith in the legal system’s ability to handle them in a fair and impartial manner.

Senator Basheer Lado, convener and pro-tem chairman of the APC Non-Serving Senators, issued a statement on behalf of the former federal lawmakers urging critics to be careful with their words.

He stated, “We believe on the legal system to evaluate these issues fairly and impartially. The allegations being fueled by the opposition are a matter before the court of law. We are aware of the recent false claims made against President Tinubu’s credentials, which have caused debate and, in some cases, public indignation.

“The “birther” controversy, which involved baseless claims that the former US President Barack Obama’s place of birth and citizenship were in dispute, arose during his administration. We can learn a lot from how President Obama handled this situation.

“President Obama maintained his unwavering commitment to leading the United States notwithstanding the unfounded nature of the claims. During his term, Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, was the target of claims pertaining to his academic background. He stayed committed to India’s growth and kept his attention on governance.
