A pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Tony Milton, has issued a public apology after old tweets resurfaced in which he made disparaging comments about the Igbo people.
The tweets, which recently came to light, showed Milton making inflammatory remarks about the Igbo ethnic group. In the tweets, he referred to the Igbos as “despicable” and accused them of treating their fellow Nigerians as enemies. He also blamed them for Nigeria’s civil war, referring to them as “people from a destructive region in Nigeria that call themselves Biafrans.”
The RCCG Pastor’s tweets have now sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning his statements as divisive and hateful. In response to the backlash, the social media user who identified himself as a pastor with RCCG apologized for his previous remarks.
