On Tuesday, the Kogi State Police Command unveiled three suspects in connection with a false alert that resulted in the lynching of a man who was charged with stealing their manhood.
The three suspects—Harish Abdurasheed, 18, Yakubu Mohammed, 25, and Haruna Adamu, 28—all of Hausa descent and residents of Ayetoro Gbede—were reportedly apprehended there in the state’s Kabba/Ijumu Local Govt area.
They were one of nine individuals detained for a variety of crimes, including armed robbery, thuggery, and theft.
One of the suspects, 25-year-old Yakubu Mohammed, said in a news interview that the dead, Usman Abubarkar, an Okada rider, was his friend and had come to say hello to him and the other two, Harish and Haruna. He claims that after shaking hands with three of them, the dead caused them all to have a sensation in their manhood. They immediately raised the alarm and reported the incident to the police and the Hausa community authorities.
He claims that both the police and the local authorities they complained to informed them that they could not assist them, so they went for home.
“We were sleeping when suddenly policemen arrived and accused them of raising false alarm and that the man had been lynched,” Haruna claimed.
ThankGod Joseph and Monday Mathew, who were detained for an armed robbery in Ofu, were among the other suspects exhibited.
