The reason why Eden Hazard was left out in the 2-0 win against Granada on Wednesday evening has been revealed.
The former Chelsea star was named in the squad to face Granada but was not offered any playing time by Zinedine Zidane who opted for Rodrygo Goes, Karim Benzema and ever-impressive Lucas Vazquez in the attack.
Real scored to second-half goals to win the clash and after the match, Zidane explained why he left the Belgium star out of the clash despite fit to play as he feels it is a risk to play in such a demanding game at his early return from injury.
“Hazard was on the bench for the first time since his return from his latest injury, with Zidane opting not to play him in the end.
“I didn’t think it was appropriate to play him. It was a tough game,” Zidane explained. “I didn’t want to risk Eden. He’s fine, but we’re going step by step.”
Real Madrid is on the same with the league leaders Atletico Madrid who has two games in hand.
