Rivers taxi driver collapses and dies

On Friday evening, a cab driver who only went by the name Sylvester unexpectedly slumped and passed away in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in the Boms sector of Elekahia.

Numerous locals claimed to be familiar with the individual, especially since he resided in the area.

It was learned that Sylvester had been observed working on his car earlier that day at around 6:30 pm, and that he had then gone to sit with his pals in front of an electrical store nearby.

A woman who identified herself as Maria told our correspondent, “I observed him pushing his phone while seated with his pals.

“I was going to dispose of some trash, but as I was walking back, I heard shouting surrounding him. I spun around to see what was going on and noticed that the man was lying flat on the ground.

“The men he was sitting with exchanged curious glances with one another. At first, they believed it to be epilepsy. However, one of them eventually touched and shook him without receiving a reaction from him.

The woman claimed that despite having children, the man was living alone because he had long since divorced his wife.

The dead was the acquaintance of a neighbor who went by the name Mr. Jude and claimed that they went to the same church.

He had passed away close to his home, I was informed over the phone. I was shocked when I asked what had happened and was told that he had simply slumped. He had left.

We were both Catholics, and I’ve known him for years, therefore I’m hurt. Since he appeared healthy even when I last saw him a few days ago, I was unaware that he was ill.

A short while later, an ambulance arrived, and a relative and a few bystanders helped carry the man’s remains inside. The ambulance then swiftly departed as bystanders watched until it vanished from view.
