Romania Lifts Andrew Tate’s House Arrest

Romania lifts Andrew Tate's house arrest

Tristan and Andrew’s brother were detained in March and charged in June. They contest the accusations.

The two are allowed to travel wherever in Bucharest, the nation’s capital, as well as the neighborhood where they reside, Ilfov.

When directed, they must report to the police and let them know if their address changes.

Additionally, they are forbidden from communicating with the two Romanian co-accused individuals, the witnesses, the purported victims, or their relatives.

They risk being placed under preventative detention or placed back under house arrest if they violate these guidelines.

For the following 60 days, a court will monitor adherence to the requirements.

After the verdict, a representative for the brothers said, “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Romanian judicial system for their fair consideration.”

“This successful outcome gives us hope that more fruitful developments are ahead.”

Tate, a former Christian who converted to Islam, also tweeted in response to the decision, denouncing the accusations as “based on nothing” and “weak and circumstantial.”

The brothers were first placed under house arrest after their initial arrest in December at their home.

According to the indictment, they established an organized criminal enterprise in 2021 with two female Romanian friends in order to engage in people trafficking not only in their home country but also in the US and the UK.

It lists seven claimed victims who it claims were enlisted by the Tate brothers on the basis of fabricated claims of love and wedlock.

Tate, a former kickboxer who is both British and American, was fired from the British television program Big Brother in 2016 when a video surfaced that purported to show him assaulting a woman.

As a result of his comments that women should “bear some responsibility” for being sexually attacked, he later gained prominence online and was banned from Twitter. He was later given a second chance.
