S. Court ruling Bamidele cautions politicians to cease swarming the judiciary

Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, the leader of the Senate, has issued a warning to opposition parties and their nominees not to use misinformation, false information, and disinformation to force the judiciary into partisan politics.

Bamidele denounced the way that politicians and their parties unfairly involve the judiciary in partisan politics in order to further their own self-interests at the detriment of the country’s and its people’s interests as a whole.

Earlier on Thursday, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi filed cases against President Bola Tinubu, which were later dismissed by the Supreme Court.

Through their different legal teams, the petitioners contended that Tinubu should be disqualified by the highest court.

Bamidele cautioned all political players, interests, and parties “to henceforth stop playing politics with the rule of law and the integrity of the judiciary” in response to the ruling.

This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs in Abuja in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling that confirmed Tinubu’s candidacy.

As per the statement, Bamidele cautioned political parties and legislators “about the diabolical practice of forcing the judiciary into partisan politics.” Regarding Nigeria, the court continues to be an impartial arbiter entirely dedicated to the administration of justice without taking into account any political, social, religious, or ethnic factors.
