After debating a motion about the Wednesday kidnapping of five female students from the Federal University Dunsin-Ma in Katsina state, the Senate made its judgment today (Thursday).
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar, are among the commanders who would be called.
The National Security Advisor, Nuhu Ribadu, and Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, were also invited by the Senate.
The lawmakers urged the security services to take more initiative and ensure the release of the corps members and kidnapped female students in Zamfara State.
They asked the military to carry out special operations to drive out bandits in the country’s North West and other regions, and they urged the Federal Government to address the shortage of personnel in the police and armed services.
The senators also emphasized the necessity of establishing state police as one of the answers to the nation’s security issues.
However, a date for the anticipated meeting with the service chiefs has still not been set by the upper chambers.
Recall that on Wednesday, five female students from Katsina State’s Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) were abducted by terrorism-related suspects.
