Simy, Obi Risk Exclusion From Serie A With Salernitana

Salernitana the club of Nigerian duo Simy Nwankwo and Joel Obi, on Tuesday met with the Italian Football Association  (FIGC), as the club risks exclusion from Serie A unless a take over is registered by December 31, football-italia.net reports.

Lazio chief Claudio Lotito took Salernitana from bankruptcy to Serie A, but it’s against the rules for two clubs owned by the same person to compete in a single Italian division.

Lotito was forced to put the club into a blind trust and hand over the running of Salernitana to unconnected third parties, who are trying to find a new owner.

Salernitana have been given a deadline on December 31 to register a takeover and the official candidate to take over the side is expected to be announced in just over a week.

But the club seem to be struggling to meet the deadline to complete a takeover and TMW reports there’s a summit scheduled between the Trustees of the Granata and the FIGC, who is unconvinced by the three proposals that have arrived for the sale of the club.

It remains unlikely that there can be a derogation until February 15 and the outlet claims the official candidate who could take over the club is still expected by December 15.

In November, the Trustees postponed the deadline to receive new proposals until December 5, as there were no offers considered suitable.

The FIGC still expects a conclusion of the transaction to be made by December 31 and the penalty is exclusion from Serie A.
