Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why he subbed off Bruno Fernandes in the Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday evening at the Old Trafford.
Fernandes was not at his best against the Reds and was unable to inspire his teammate during his time on the pitch, he misplaced 58% of his passes at Anfield – the lowest success rate of any player who started the match on either team.
Fernandes was replaced in the 89th minute by Mason Greenwood but the Portuguese international was not pleased with the decision.
Solskjaer admits that the reason for the sub was to get a winner and when asked about the substitution, Solskjaer said at his post-match press conference: ‘It was a tactical decision. ‘Bruno has obviously been running his socks off for us every single game since he’s come. He’s been here and been running more or less every game.
Up next for Manchester United is the clash against will take a trip Craven Cottage to play Fulham on Wednesday in their next Premier League match.
