A youngster named Kefas Dauda was given an eight-month prison term by a Kaduna State Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for stealing a laptop and two cellphones.
Dauda, a resident of Kaduna’s Barnawa neighborhood, was accused of trespassing and theft.
Dauda was not given the option of a fine when he was sentenced by Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel after pleading guilty to the offence.
Additionally, he commanded the offender to return the stolen phones or pay Williams Timothy, the complainant, N237,450 in compensation.
The magistrate claimed that individuals who might desire to engage in the act would be discouraged by the ruling.
