Peterson Enoch, 19, was given a 12-month prison sentence on Thursday by Justice Dairus Khobo of the Kaduna High Court for offenses that had some resemblance to internet fraud.
The state Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission took the defendant, a resident of Kaduna’s Millennium City, before the court.
Khobo concluded that the defendant was guilty of the charge brought against him.
The judge gave Enoch a 12-month prison term with the possibility of a N100,000 fine.
He also directed the return of $1,000 to his victim, Kingsley Matthew, as well as the forfeiture of the iPhone 12 and Infinix S5 phones found on the defendant during the arrest.
Enoch was one of the suspects detained at Malali in Kaduna on August 25 as a result of actionable intelligence regarding the actions of those suspected of being fraudsters, according to the EFCC Counsel, P. C. Onyeneho.
To the charge, the defendant had entered a guilty plea.
