The Police Command in Kaduna State seized and arrested two individuals who allegedly killed a student by hanging him.
The institution is a private secondary school called Al-azhar Academy, according to ASP Mansur Hassan, the acting Police Public Relations Officer for Kaduna.
He said that more people would be arrested in relation to the student’s death, and that the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the situation, to reporters in Zaria on Saturday.
An uncle of the deceased student, Malam Isa Saidu of the Kofar Kuyanbana region of Zaria, stated in a separate interview with newsmen that his nephew Marwanu Nuhu-Sambo passed away on October 20 at Zaria’s private secondary school, Al-azhar Academy.
Saidu claims that the deceased man was returned to the school by a friend of his father, who then gave him to the principal.
He continued by saying that the deceased was flogged twice in front of other pupils on the assembly ground after the vice principle of the school had flogged him in front of him.
The tardy student was brought back to the principal’s office and flogged once again. During this incident, he tried to flee, but the school prefects stopped him.
According to Saidu, “He was still beaten to the point where he lost some of his teeth, went into a coma, and eventually lost his life.”
