A U.S. citizen has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the EFCC and GTBank, demanding the immediate release of online personality VeryDarkMan.
The individual warned that if he is not released by Monday evening, the U.S. military might intervene.
The warning was made in a post shared via X (formerly Twitter), sparking widespread reactions online.
This development follows the arrest of VeryDarkMan on Friday, May 2, by the EFCC outside the premises of a GTBank branch.
It is alleged that he was delayed at the bank’s entrance for about five minutes before being arrested shortly after exiting the premises.
Although a video has surfaced clearing GTBank of direct involvement in the arrest, many of VeryDarkMan’s supporters continue to accuse the bank of playing a role.
Amid the controversy, the U.S. citizen, who identified as a powerful figure, posted a video message stating:
“This is a serious warning, and I hope you guys listen very well. You cannot arrest VeryDarkMan, a freedom fighter. Free him within the next 48 hours.”
“To the CEO of GTBank and the EFCC: I’m the mama with a very big bag. This is a direct contact from the USA. Free VeryDarkMan before Monday evening or a message will be sent by the U.S. military.”
The post has since gone viral, with many users flooding the comment section to share their thoughts and reactions.
