Selasi, who is most known for her 2013 novel Ghana Must Go and her Ted Talk Don’t Ask Where I’m From, Ask Where I’m a Local, has started scripting the movie. It is anticipated that the comedy-drama would take place primarily in Lagos, Nigeria.
The plot will follow the lives of a Nigerian-American woman who, after getting married to an oil billionaire, relocates to Lagos and, with the aid of her friends, establishes an event planning business in the city that hosts some of the most magnificent events in the world.
Selasi disclosed her plans to produce Victoria Island through her production business, Cocoa Content, in an exclusive interview with Deadline. Nicholas Weinstockb, the executive producer of Severance and Escape, will also work on this project. Tshepiso Chikapa Phiri, the CEO of Known Associates Entertainment, and Fremantle, the production company behind American Gods, were there at Dannemora.
