Embattled music mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ violent assault on ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura during a 2016 incident at a Los Angeles hotel was made public as unedited surveillance footage was shown in court.
The dramatic moment, played for the first time in full, captured him dragging the singer down a hallway, attacking her near an elevator, and pacing in a towel.
Cassie, now 38, faced her former partner in court on Tuesday, revealing disturbing details about their relationship. She testified that she endured Combs’ so-called “Freak Off” parties—days-long sex parties involving male escorts—out of fear of blackmail. Jurors learned that Diddy often recorded the encounters and allegedly threatened to release the footage if she refused to comply.
The video, played without audio, left the courtroom silent. It showed Cassie being dragged by the hoodie, slammed to the ground, and kicked while motionless. Later, a hotel security guard, Israel Florez, is seen entering the scene. He testified that he responded to a report of a woman in distress and later documented the incident by recording the hotel surveillance video on his phone, fearing no one would believe what he saw.
Florez said that Combs, wearing only a towel and socks, offered him a bribe to cover up the incident. “You take care of this, I got you,” Combs allegedly said. Florez declined the money, insisting only on respect for the guests and for himself.
At trial, Florez also recalled Combs raising his voice at Cassie in the hallway, prompting the security guard to warn he would be removed from the hotel. Florez’s written report and photos of the aftermath were submitted as evidence.
Cassie testified that Combs controlled every aspect of her life during their ten-year relationship. She said he used violence to maintain control and left firearms around their homes to intimidate her. “He would stomp me in the head if I was down,” she said, describing repeated beatings that left her eyes bloodshot.
The court also heard that Combs allegedly paid the hotel $50,000 to obtain the original surveillance footage. Just two days after the incident, he and Cassie appeared in public, holding hands at a film premiere.
Ventura, who is now eight-and-a-half months pregnant with her third child, took the stand despite objections from Combs’ legal team, who argued her pregnancy might sway the jury. The judge allowed her testimony to proceed.
Describing her first “Freak Off,” Ventura said she was manipulated into participating. “I didn’t feel I had much of a choice,” she said, adding that Combs warned her not to make him angry. She testified that she was “completely sexually inexperienced” when their relationship began and felt coerced into repeated encounters with strangers while Combs watched.
“Over time, there were blackmail materials to make me feel like if I didn’t do it, it would be hung over my head,” she said.
The “Freak Offs” could last up to four days, involving drugs, alcohol, and multiple sexual encounters. Cassie described the aftermath as leaving her emotionally shattered. “I felt disgusted. I was humiliated. I felt like it was all I was good for.”
Cassie said Combs tried to present their relationship as monogamous while maintaining control and jealousy. “He would say, ‘I’m Puff Daddy, and Puff Daddy has many women,’” she recalled. She testified that she eventually realized she was in a highly controlled and abusive environment.
Prosecutors claim Combs ran a criminal enterprise centered on coercing and trafficking women. If convicted of the charges, which include sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution, he could face life in prison. Combs has denied the allegations, maintaining that all encounters were consensual and reflective of a “kinky” lifestyle—not criminal behavior.
