World Mountain Bike Championships British team members Tom Pidcock, Rachel Atherton, and Evie Richards

Pidcock, who won the gold medal at the 2021 Summer Olympics, will compete in the cross-country races at Glentress Forest from August 8 to 12.

The 23-year-old Pidcock added, “It’s always fantastic to put on a GB jersey and have some fun again on the mountain bike.

From August 3 to 5, Atherton will compete in a downhill race at Fort William, Scotland.

Williams, who won the junior world championship a year ago, and Laurie Greenland, who finished fifth at the 2017 World Championships in France, have advanced to the elite men’s squad.

The former world cyclo-cross champion Pidcock is part of the men’s cross-country team with Cameron Mason and Cameron Orr.

Although he spends the majority of the year competing in road races—he is presently ranked among the top 10 in the Tour de France—he still finds time to ride a mountain bike. This year, he has won World Cup competitions in both the cross-country and short track disciplines.

The women’s elite cross-country team includes Evie Richards, the 2021 world champion, as well as Annie Last and Isla Short.

Richards has placed on the World Cup podium this season after winning gold for England at the Commonwealth Games last year.

From August 3–13, Scotland will play host to the first-ever combined UCI World Championships, where rainbow jerseys will be awarded in the road, track, and BMX disciplines, among others.
