Yobe's post-insurgency recovery is lauded by the UN

The quality of Yobe State’s post-Boko Haram insurgency reconstruction, rehabilitation, and recovery programs has been graded by the United Nations Development Programme.

The state’s restoration and rehabilitation efforts in the fields of health and education particularly impressed the UNDP, according to Mohamed Yahya, the organization’s resident representative in Nigeria.

Yahya visited the Governor Mai Mala Buni administration’s newly constructed 375-bed Maternity and Child Healthcare Complex on Tuesday in Damaturu.

“Investing in health and education, the two cornerstones of Governor Buni’s development strategy, is in line with the program for the Sustainable Development Goals.

He thanked the Federal Government and the development partners for supporting the state government’s rehabilitation program and demanded greater assistance for the Mallundunari community’s resettlement, which is the only community that has not yet been completed following its displacement by the militants.
